Tasha Bertram

TASHA BERTRAM MRBSoc. Tasha is currently a Senior Teacher and Examiner with the Russian Ballet Society and a freelance teacher of classical ballet and character, all over the world.

Tasha’s career has been vivid and consistent. Upon finishing her eight years training at the Legat School of Russian Ballet, she went directly to Italy to join Liliana Cosi and Marinel Stefanescu, with La Compangnia Balletto Classico. Within a year she became one of the company’s young soloists, dancing lead roles in Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty and Raymonda.

A year later Tasha joined The London City Ballet, one of Britain’s best loved touring companies. Here she completed her professional dancing career as a senior soloist for ten years.

Her development as an artist led to TV and films as an actress and then when her son, Thomas Brodie Sangster began his career, Tasha chaperoned him on many films all over the world. Through this she fell into producing her own films, and with Thomas they formed Brodie Films Ltd.
She produced, scripted and wrote the film score for their award winning film, ‘A Hat for the Camel’. During this time Tasha also formed her own band, writing all her own songs. It became a joyous display of music incorporating jazz, blues, fado and theatre. www.tashabertram.com

Tasha regularly teaches at Central School of Ballet, Danceworks and covers classes for Masters of Ballet and Dance Gems. She was ballet mistress for The London Ballet Company and Director of Ballet at The London School of Economics, producing annual shows at The Peacock Theatre/Sadlers Wells.
More recently she has turned her attention to coaching and helping young dancers find their way to success in major competitions in Europe and Asia and plans to return to China to continue her work as teacher and coach for Jay Ballet.
Based on the Legat System, Tasha’s own teaching style focuses strongly on a precise and supportive technique, from which the artistry of a dancer can then flourish safely to it’s furthest height.
